Nurefsan (Neffy) Davulcu has a background in both mathematics and statistics, earning her B.Sc in Mathematics & Statistics from McMaster University before completing a Master’s in Statistical Data Analysis at Ghent University in Belgium. Over the years, she has taught and tutored students at the elementary, high school, college, and university levels, giving her experience working with a wide range of learning styles and mathematical backgrounds.

As an educator, Neffy especially enjoys making statistics feel intuitive and approachable. She loves showing students how statistical ideas connect to real-world problems across many different fields, rather than treating the subject as a collection of formulas to memorize. Her teaching style focuses on breaking difficult concepts down into clear, understandable steps while helping students develop the confidence to tackle problems on their own.

One of Neffy’s favourite parts of teaching is seeing a student’s attitude toward math change as their confidence grows. She believes that students often understand far more than they initially give themselves credit for, and she enjoys creating a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through challenging material.

Outside of math and statistics, Neffy is a competitive dancer and loves discovering new places whenever she gets the chance!
